About Anne

My career in counseling began later in my life, which I feel brought a necessary amount of life experience. As I progressed through my internship, and years as a provider, I have found myself drawn to specialize in working with populations in which mental health is highly stigmatized. With personal connections to Veterans, Frontline Medical Workers, and Pilots/ Flight Crew, I have focused heavily on supporting these populations and others similar to them such as First Responder. Each of these populations must deal with transitions in life that many cannot connect to; shift work, global transition, missing personal celebrations, and being gone from home much of the time. While these are not the only populations that I work with, I strive to be a safe space for them and their family members.

I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed in Texas and Colorado, and Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC), who looks to continue to provide support to those supporting others, or needing a helping hand through difficult times.

What is relocation stress?

Relocation stress, also known as transfer trauma, originated as a nursing diagnosis related to when the elderly transitioned from their private home to an assisted living facility or nursing home. Since the original definition however, relocation stress has been readily acknowledged as symptoms that occur as a result of a move from one environment to another and the impact on everyone from children to adults. The relocation could be from one area of a city to another or one school to another, to a deployment or transfer to another country. Unfortunately, this stress is often overlooked and minimized until symptoms appear. There are ways however to prepare for these changes to minimize the resulting impact. We look to support you as you begin this transition, or as a result of the transition, through guidance and support.

Anne’s Approach

I work with individuals ages 16+ from a client-centered approach. I utilize CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), and CPT (cognitive processing therapy) primarily, although I am experiential in the sense that I will utilize art and music to assist in therapeutic processing. I have extensive experience working with trauma and addiction, as well as those processing through expatriation/ and repatriation.

Each person I meet is treated as an individual whether they are a tough as nails Police Officer learning how to cope with trauma, or a stay-at-home parent learning how to cope with a new child. There is no "magic wand" but I will offer an open-minded approach to assisting in finding a way to your goal.
